This book is for anyone who wants to learn how to use VB 2008 to develop Windows Forms applications.
If you have experience with a previous version of Visual Basic, you'll upgrade easily to VB 2008, focusing on the features and development techniques that are new to you. If you've never used VB before, you'll start

If you have a copy of Murach’s Visual Basic 2005...
VB 2008 hasn't undergone the major changes that earlier
releases of the software did. So if you already know
VB 2005, this book isn't essential for your initial
upgrade to 2008.
However, this book will give you a great start in working
with LINQ, once you're ready for that. More important,
it will easily pay for itself as a time-saving, up-to-date
reference that helps you avoid the "gotchas" as you
develop 2008 applications.
