Who this book is for
This book is for anyone who wants to make better use of SQL Server 2008. So it's the right book for developers who are new to SQL Server, as well as those who aren't sure they're taking full advantage of SQL Server's power. And it's a great first book for anyone who wants to become a database administrator (note, however, that this book doesn’t present the performance tuning skills that database administrators need).
If you're working with a later version of .NET, though, you'll prefer the 2012 edition of this book, Murach's SQL Server 2012 for Developers. It offers all the same benefits as the 2008 edition, but covers the features and enhancements that benefit developers the most in SQL Server 2012.
